The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karaikal, and Mahe. They warn that isolated heavy showers will occur in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and South Interior Karnataka from November 1 to November 2. A yellow alert is also in place for intense downpours in South Interior Karnataka.

Meanwhile, regions in northwestern, central, and eastern India are expected to experience above-normal temperatures for the next four days. Additionally, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are likely to see smog, slight fog, or mist during the mornings and nights from November 1 to November 3.


Rainfall Prediction for Southern India

The Meteorological Department has predicted light showers with thunderstorms and lightning in Kerala and Mahe from November 1 to November 4. Similar weather conditions are expected in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Karaikal from November 1 to November 3. Karnataka is forecasted to receive rainfall from November 1 to November 2. Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Yanam may experience rain today.

Heavy downpours are specifically warned for Kerala, Mahe, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu on November 1. These intense weather patterns are likely to continue over Karaikal, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu until November 2. From November 1 to November 3, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe are also expected to face heavy rainfall.


Delhi-NCR Weather Update

In the National Capital, the sky is predicted to be mostly clear, but mild fog or mist is likely during the mornings and nights. The air quality in Delhi has dropped significantly as people celebrated Diwali on Thursday, ignoring the ban on firecrackers. High pollution levels were recorded in areas like Dwarka, Lajpat Nagar, and Kalkaji.

At 9 PM on Thursday, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 327, indicating poor air quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), areas like Jahangirpuri and Anand Vihar experienced “very poor” air quality. The 24-hour AQI was measured at 328, making it the worst Diwali air quality in the last three years.
