The Congress party has lodged another formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging tampering of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in 13 additional assembly constituencies in Haryana. This comes on the heels of an earlier complaint, bringing the total number of constituencies where irregularities are suspected to 20.
According to Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, the party has identified specific polling booths in constituencies such as Narnaul, Karnal, Dabwali, and several others where EVM tampering is alleged to have taken place. The party has requested the ECI to seal all EVMs in these locations and to initiate an investigation within a “time-bound” framework.
In the complaint, Ramesh expressed the urgency of the matter, stating, “We request the ECI to take immediate action on the complaints provided, ensuring that all EVMs from the mentioned booths are sealed without delay. A detailed and timely inquiry is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.”
The constituencies named in the updated memo include Rewari, Kalka, Panipat City, Indri, Badkhal, Faridabad NIT, and several others. Congress hopes that the ECI will respond promptly and address the concerns raised regarding these critical election irregularities.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes will be on the Election Commission for their next steps to ensure a transparent and fair investigation into these allegations.
